I respectfully draw your attention to the following:
Husayn Fahd Daqduq is held under administrative detention in Ramleh prison although his sentence expired nearly ten years ago.
Husayn Daqduq was arrested by members of the South Lebanon Army in April 1987. After his arrest he was tortured, first while in Khiam Detention Centre in South Lebanon and again while being detained in Sarafand military camp in Israel. Husayn Daqduq was later tried before an Israeli military court and was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment on charges which included taking part in military training with an illegal organisation. This sentence expired in October 1988, but he was not released. Since 1991 he has been held under administrative detention.
Your Excellency, as a member of Amnesty International I consider administrative detention to be in contradiction of international human rights treaties. Therefore I ask you most respectfully to order the immediate and unconditional release of Husayn Fahd Daqduq.
